Even If He Didn’t Win The US Open, Brooks Koepka Was Doing Just Fine

The NBA Finals are over, the Stanley Cup playoffs are done, football is still months away, and baseball is headed into the dog days of summer.

Needless to say, sports are at a minimum right now and it’s absolutely brutal.

Luckily, there was a Major this weekend, as Brooks Koepka, a 27-year-old Florida native won the US Open at Erin Hills.

The tournament didn’t lend much excitement, however, the post game festivities brought some heat, as the world was introduced to Koepka’s girlfriend, Jena Sims. Sims, born in 1988, is an actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who has held the Miss National Junior Teenager title and competed in the Miss Teen USA pageant in 2007. In classic Joe Buck fashion, the Fox announcer mistook Sims for Koepka’s previous girlfriend  Becky Edwards.

The internet was quick to correct Buck, and I’m sure glad we did, because Jena Sims is definitely not someone we should be sleeping on.

Wasted Farmer Gets Into Fight With Pig, Gets Weiner & Fingers Bitten Off, Dies

Life comes at you fast, you know?

One second you’re getting a buzz on, and the next thing you know, you’re shit-faced. Then you’re minding your own business, and boom, suddenly your in a fight with a pig. And not only are you in a fight with a pig, but you’re losing! There go three fingers. Then your penis. Andddddd now you’re dead.

That’s pretty much the definition of life comes at you fast, and no, it’s not a made up story.

We take you down to Mexico, where the only thing scarier than the cartel and the water are the pigs, apparently.  According to a report from El Debate, 60-year-old Miguel Anaya Pablo died from an infection caused by the wounds he suffered during a brawl with one of his pigs.

Only in Mexico, you know?

via El Debate  (translated with Google):

According to the medical report, the causes of the death of the farmer were due to a strong infection, since last Friday the man arrived home at the community of San Lucas Ojitlán, where he began to fight with a pig that they have in the home.

The pig went over and severed three fingers of his right hand, bit it in his intimate part and cut it, leaving the man seriously injured, so his relatives immediately moved him to the General Hospital of this city , Where he was hospitalized from that day, but Sunday morning ceased to exist.

After carrying out the corresponding procedures, the corpse was ordered to be taken to the Amphitheater for a law necropsy, where later the relatives went to perform the legal identification of the corpse, noting that it is the farmer Miguel Anaya Pablo, 60 years old.

Normally, I would chalk something like this up to #FakeNews, but there’s just something so… Mexico about it, that I want to believe it’s true, so I will.

Florida is able to produce an assembly line of headlines that sound fake and turn out to be true, so why can’t Mexico?

James Dennis ‘J.D.’ Smith, a 49-year-old former CIA special agent and Navy Seal, has been arrested in connection with an ongoing federal smuggling investigation.

Smith, 49, was arrested on Saturday, June 17 in Charlotte, South Carolina. On the same day, Smith was identified as a former Navy SEAL and CIA special agent by multiple sources.

Similarly, two Columbia, South Carolina brothers Carl Rye, 41, and Bryon Rye, 43, were also arrested in a Rosewood Drive house by authorities.

All three men have been charged with conspiring to distribute at least 1,540 pounds of marijuana since 2014 according to the complaint, with each charge carrying a sentence of 5 to 40 years.

via The State:

According to the complaint, Smith supplied the Rye brothers with marijuana. Bryon Rye supplied the money to buy Smith’s marijuana, and Carl Rye sold the marijuana in South Carolina, including to a distributor in Beaufort County, legal papers said.

On numerous occasions, Smith landed his private airplane at Jim Hamilton-Owens Field in Columbia to pick up money owed to him by the Rye brothers, the complaint said. Each time Smith landed at Owens Field, Bryon Rye went to a bank to get cash from a safe deposit box he kept there to pay Smith for the marijuana, the complaint said.

Smith had bought the airplane, a twin-engine Cessna with a range of some 1,000 miles, under the business name of “The Praetorian” for use in medical humanitarian missions in Central America, according to aviation and court records.

The marijuana was stored at two different storage units: one at the Riverchase Self Storage in Lexington and the other at The Storage Center in Aiken, South Carolina.

According to court records, the arrests cap off a three-year investigation in which the federal Drug Enforcement Agency used airplane records, safe deposit box records, text message records, vehicle electronic tracking devices, video surveillance cameras, drug-sniffing dogs, GPS cell phone tracking, still photographs and plain old-fashioned stakeouts and the tailing of suspects.

As for Smith, the former Seal, he served in Iraq and won a Bronze Star for heroism in combat and won a Special Operations Medic of the Year award. While working with the CIA, Smith provided security for US and foreign clients in war-zone environments, including Afghanistan, Haiti, Pakistan, Africa and Latin America

April Townsend, a 40-year-old South Carolina woman, has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tied a bag round a man’s head before trying to decapitate him with a machete.

Townsend, 40, was charged with attempted murder and arson for the brutal attack on David Mitchum in a Seneca, South Carolina home on Sunday, June 18.

According to police, Mitchum’s ear was split in two after the Townsend covered his head with two plastic bags and swung a machete at him. She then threw an ax at him as well.

Afterwards, Townsend then attempted to set  Mitchum’s truck on fire as he tried to flee the scene. Police reports indicate that Townsend had put paper in the truck’s gas tank before lighting it.

via WYFF:

Deputies were called to a home on Mema Lane in Seneca about a disturbance involving a man and a woman. They found April Dawn Townsend in the yard of the home. She told deputies that a man was inside the house. Deputies found smoke coming from the house but no one inside.

Deputies said as they spoke to Townsend, she appeared to be oblivious to what was going and they had a hard time getting her to respond. They said they also discovered burned hair on Townsend’s clothing. Deputies later learned that the man involved in the disturbance was at the hospital receiving treatment for injuries. When they spoke with the man, he told them that Townsend previously threatened him and told him that other people were coming to crucify her.

Townsend attacked the man on Sunday, deputies say. She put two plastic bags over his head and swung a machete at his head to try to decapitate him, cutting his ear off, warrants say. She then threw an ax at him, warrants say. The man said Townsend tried to set his truck on fire by putting paper in the fuel door and lighting it and by putting a gas can on paper in the bed of the truck and setting it on fire. Deputies confirmed that the truck had evidence that someone had tried to set it on fire.

According to police, this is the second time Townsend has been accused of trying to kill someone with a plastic bag.

Townsend was arrested on Sunday, June 18, and charged with attempted murder, second-degree arson, attempted arson and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime.

She is being held at the Oconee County Detention Center in South Carolina.

LeBron Is Reportedly Not Happy With GM David Griffin’s Firing

Question: is there a bigger asshole in sports than Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert?

Seriously, the dude had a legitimate adult temper tantrum when LeBron left Cleveland the first time, penning an ill-advised letter where he PROMISED the Cavs would win a title before LeBron did? Needless to say, that prediction didn’t really work out for him.

But then, by some miracle, not only did LeBron decided to come back to Cleveland, but he actually won them a title. A title! In f*cking Cleveland. Their first championship in 52 years, and all thanks to LeBron James.

So, how does Gilbert decide to repay James this offseason? By firing the GM James was heavily in support of, duh!

According to ESPN reporter and Pillsbury Doughboy Brian Windhorst, not only was Cavs GM David Griffin fired but he was fired without James being consulted:

This lead to Howard Beck of Bleacher Report stating that LeBron was ‘disappointed’ with Griffin’s and ‘concerned’ about the Cavs direction:

For what it’s worth, James took to Twitter to thank Griffin for all he’s done:

I think it’s pretty clear that unless the Cavaliers somehow swing a trade for Paul George or Jimmy Butler and win a title, LeBron’s bouncing after the end of next season.

And I’m kind of glad, too, because f*ck Dan Gilbert.

Wyoming Valedictorian Has Mic Cut As He Criticizes Administration During Graduation Speech

Peter Butera, the valedictorian and class president of Wyoming Area’s Class of 2017, had his graduation speech cut short during the school’s ceremony as he began to criticize school administrators.

Butera, who’s headed to Villanova University in the fall, had just started to criticize the districts ‘overly authoritative’ administration when the plug on his microphone was pulled. Butera was then approached by Principal Dr. Jon Pollard, who ushered him off the stage.

Students and parents alike can be heard screaming for Butera to be allowed to finish his speech.

Janet Serino, Wyoming Area Superintendent, told Citizens’ Voice that graduation speeches are screened ahead of time and that Butera altered his mid-speech.

via Citizens’ Voice:

Serino said student input is important and she immediately scheduled a meeting with Butera to listen to his concerns on how things could be improved at Wyoming Area.

The West Pittston teenager who plans to study business administration in college wonders if he would have been cut off if he ad-libbed while offering gushing remarks about school officials.

Right before the sound was cut during Butera’s speech, he noted that those involved in student government — from class president to student council — really have no influence in how the school operates and that will hold graduates back in the real world.

However, Butera doesn’t seem to mind, as he said the administration’s actions got his point across just fine:

“I don’t think it could have gone any better,” Butera said. “I got my point across and them cutting the microphone proved my point to be true

Butera, who shared his entire speech on his Facebook page, plans to study business administration when he arrives at Villanova.

According to Breaking News’ Twitter account, there has been a drive-by shooting in London that has left at least two people injured. More details to come.

What Happened?

1London reports that two young women were shot as they sat in their car on a busy street. The shooting took place on Brentwood Road in Romford, Essex, around 10:00 P.M. as the women were waiting in their black Audi A3 hatchback, which was parked near The Wheatsheaf pub.

The women are reportedly aged 23 and 24 and witnesses saw them stagger to a nearby car before being taken to an east London hospital my a bystander.

A witness who preferred to remain anonymous said the shooters drove up in a silver car alongside the victims.

“It pulled up alongside as the two women were sitting in theirs and then before you knew it you heard five or six gunshots and the silver car drove off. Then the two girls stumbled down to the corner of Wheatsheaf Road and got into another car that looked like it had been waiting for them on the corner. Their car was in a right state. The bullets had gone all the way in one side and out the other.

“No one saw much of the girls. They got out the area really quickly – apparently someone took them straight to hospital.”

Another witness who arrived early on the scene said gun casings were scattered across the road.

Both women are being treated in the hospital, though their injures are reportedly not life threatening.

Police have sealed off Brentwood Road as they search for the gunmen.

Brent Connors, who lives next to where the shooting happened, told the Standard: “I heard four or five shot gun bangs and two cars speeding off past my window, and then two women running up the road. I now understand the two women running away were injured and the ones that got shot in the car.”

A resident of Tolburt Court, in nearby Lennox Close, said one of the victims lives in the estate.

“She’s a lovely girl. I say hello to her when we’re both walking our dogs sometimes,” they told the outlet. “It’s very scary isn’t it? She’s only a small girl. She probably got lucky and the bullets went over her head. I’ve seen where the car got shot and if she was a little taller she’d most likely be dead.”

London

While this incident does not appear to be terror-related in any way, London has seen several deadly attacks in 2017. One June 3, a van mounted the pavement of London Bridge and drove into pedestrians, killing 11 and injuring 48. On May 22, a suicide bomber detonated an explosive at the exit of the Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert, killing 23 and injuring 119. On March 22, a terrorist drove his vehicle into a crowd of people at the Palace of Westminster and attacked others with a knife, killing 6 and injuring 49.

Miles Teller Detained For Public Drunkenness, Could Not Give Less Of A F*ck

I’m a huge Miles Teller guy.

Average looking dude, killer acting career (which started as the older douche in Project X, I think), hall-of-fame dime girlfriend, and just a general everyman steez about him.  And I’m not the only one, as it’s no coincidence that Teller’s star has grown significantly the last couple of years.

Continuing his everyman trend, Teller got in a little trouble this the weekend in San Diego over some alleged public intoxication.

via TMZ:

Our sources say that’s when Teller lost his balance and almost fell into a traffic lane. The cop cuffed him, and Miles had trouble standing in one spot.

Now the turning point. San Diego offers a detox program where cops will take someone who is drunk to a center run by volunteers. The center has cots where someone can stay for 4 hours and sleep it off. The cop offered to take Miles there but we’re told he refused.

At that point Miles could have been arrested, but cops still took him to the detox center … hoping he’d cooperate. That didn’t happen. We’re told he refused to follow directions so the staff rejected him. Miles was arrested for being drunk in public … a misdemeanor. He was in jail for around 4 hours and he was released without bail.

However, Teller shared his own side of the story, and like everything he does, it was relatable as f*ck.

Obviously, we’re taking Teller’s side on this one.

And, to be honest, no matter what he does, Teller is going to be just fine. He’s got Keleigh Sperry by his side.

Tour Agency Responsible For Otto Warmbier’s Trip To North Korea Will No Longer Accept Americans

Following the tragic death of 22-year-old Otto Warmbier, the tour agency responsible for his fateful trip the DPRK has announced they are reconsidering the policy on bringing Americans to the hermit state.

Young Pioneer Tours, a China-based tour agency founded by Gareth Johnson, took to Facebook to express their sympathy over the death of Warmbier, as well as their plan for Americans going forward:

via Young Pioneer Tours Facebook:

Our deepest sympathies are with Otto Warmbier and those who loved him. We had held onto hope that he might recover, and have the life that he should have had, but now those hopes are gone, and we too are reeling with the shock of a young man’s life taken well before his time.

The devastating loss of Otto Warmbier’s life has led us to reconsider our position on accepting American tourists. There had not been any previous detainment in North Korea that has ended with such tragic finality and we have been struggling to process the result. Now, the assessment of risk for Americans visiting North Korea has become too high.

The way his detention was handled was appalling, and a tragedy like this must never be repeated. Despite constant requests, we were denied any opportunity to meet him or anyone in contact with him in Pyongyang, only receiving assurances that he was fine. There has still been almost no information disclosed about his period in detention. Considering these facts and this tragic outcome we will no longer be organising tours for US citizens to North Korea.

Young Pioneer Tours, which was founded by British expatriate Gareth Johnson, sells itself as a tour agency that brings you to the countries ‘your mother doesn’t want you to go to.’ They specialize in North Korea tours and is based in the Chinese city of Xi’an. YPT also offers tours to Iran, Turkmenistan and Chernobyl.

Similarly, other North Korea tour agencies such as  Koryo Tours and Uri Tours said this week that they were ‘reviewing’ their policies for American citizens.

Otto Warmbier, 22, died on Monday, June 19, after spending over a year in a coma as a prisoner of North Korea.

University of Tennessee Professor Fired After Being Accused of Being Racist

Jude Morelock, a lecturer in sociology teaching slave history at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, has been fired after a dispute with African American student Kayla Parker. Parker accused Morelock of being racist based on a multiple-choice exam question about the impact of slavery on black families.

What Happened?

Parker labeled Morelock a racist after taking issue with a specific multiple-choice exam question about the impact of slavery on African American families. Following the confrontation, Parker says Morelock repeatedly attacked her on Facebook in a series of posts.

A UT Knoxville spokesperson would not confirm the reasoning behind Morelock’s removal in April, midway through the semester, and said the university was prohibited by federal law from discussing the interactions between Morelock and Parker, Knoxnews reports.

In a post on Medium, Parker wrote: “The whitewashing of Black history has historically been used to justify the barbaric behavior that White people inflicted on Black people for centuries and I was seeing this happen again in my class.”

Parker then claimed the professor was not interested in “having a conversation or hearing my concerns.”

Here was the exam question that sparked the dispute:

Historical research on African-American families during slavery shows that:

A) Family ties weren’t important in African cultures where the slaves’ ancestors originated; consequently, family bonds were never strong among slaves.

B) Two-parent families were extremely rare during the slave period.

C) Black family bonds were destroyed by the abuses of slave owners, who regularly sold off family members to other slave owners.

D) Most slave families were headed by two parents.

Parker chose C, but was told by her professor the correct answer is D.

Parker continued: “When class in session, she began making backhanded comments directed at me.

“After class, my Professor and I went into the hallway for our scheduled meeting. Before letting me speak, she spent 3 minutes flipping through various books and citing sociologists who didn’t explicitly mention the destruction of family bonds.”

In regards to the Facebook posts, Parker said: “Apparently, she forgot about privacy settings on Facebook. Her comments include, but not limited to: ‘After the semester is over and she is no longer my student, I will post her name, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn… after she graduates, all bets are off’ and ‘Ignore the facts, promote a misinformed viewpoint, trash me and I will fight you.’

Parker seemed please with UT Knoxville’s handling of the situation, writing: “Fortunately, this story has the unusual ending of a University standing up for a student. I was removed from the class, given alternatives for completing the course, and offered additional resources to ensure my safety…When white people refuse to use their privilege and voice to fight against a society that disproportionately victimizes people of color, they are in fact contributing to a racist and unjust society.”

In a Facebook message, Morelock said she had been advised by her attorney not to comment.

“But I have this to say: For this woman to publicly call me a racist is outrageous and unconscionable, as promoting racial justice has been a large part of my life’s work,” she wrote.

Speaking to MailOnline, Morelock said: “I am a lifetime activist and proponent of racial justice, so being called a racist is the worse slur that anyone could possibly make against me.

“Look carefully at the articles you have read, and you will notice that not one shred of evidence or one example of racism has even been provided.

“I taught for 17 years at a historically black institution, Knoxville College, and hundreds of my former students, all of whom are African American, are Facebook friends who have been at the forefront of people defending me on social media. They are outraged that I have been referenced as a racist.”

Seton Hall University has made the decision to halt the expansion of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity until next year.

According to Michael Davis, assistant director of Leadership Development, the Seton Hall administration will reconsider the fraternity’s expansion in the fall.

Timothy Piazza, who was pledging at Beta Theta Pi at Penn State University, died on February 4 after drunkenly falling down a flight of stairs at the fraternity house. Members of the fraternity are currently on trial as many of them ignored Piazza’s condition when they could have helped him.

via The Setonian:

“Following the tragic death of Timothy Piazza at Penn State, it is prudent that we take the time to reflect on what’s best for our community,” Davis said via email.

“We work closely with our Greek organizations and their national offices as partners in many areas of education and effective risk management,” Davis said. “We want all students to make smart, healthy choices for themselves, their peers, and their organizations.”

Furthermore, Davis said that Seton Hall’s administration works to ensure similar events do not happen at Seton Hall, thus influencing their decision.

Beta Theta Pi announced their acceptance to Seton Hall’s campus back on April 20.

via Beta.org:

Today, Beta Theta Pi announces that it has been selected to expand at Seton Hall University, with plans to bring the Fraternity’s Men of Principle initiative to the South Orange, New Jersey, campus in spring 2018.

The invitation to join the university’s thriving Greek community comes after extensive discussions with students and administrators who see significant alignment between the missions and cultures of the two historic institutions.

The Setonian contacted Beta Theta Pi for comment on Seton Hall’s decision to delay the expansion, however, the fraternity did not respond.

Pia Muehlenbeck is one fit Instagram sensation.

The model, who also founded luxury activewear label Slinkii because she’s got brains and a killer body, threw up some Instagram posts detailing her heavy workout in Stockhold while enjoying a Swedish vacation. Side Note: I’d literally kill a man to enjoy a Swedish vacation with her.

The 26-year-old bombshell flaunted her well toned abs and, ahem, other assets while wearing her designer sportswear. Check it out.

She had 1.9 million Instagram followers this morning, a number that immediately grew by one as I pounded the Follow button. Ever the businesswoman, Pia also let her fans know that she was drinking a Women’s Best protein shake. Basically, she’s the hottest woman on the planet and savvy enough to be a sugar momma with all of her profitable endeavors. I’m in love.

Oh, and did I mention she used to be a lawyer? Yeah, this woman is going to take over the world. I, for one, welcome and endorse our new female overlord.

Laura Haddock is a 31-year-old British actress who you may not know by name, but you’ve likely seen her on the big screen.

Haddock is best known for playing Kacie Carter in Honest, Lucrezia in Da Vinci’s Demons and Meredith Quill (Star Lord’s mom) in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Now, she’s also starring in Transformers: The Last Knight as Viviane Wembly. Yes, that’s a very British sounding name.

Haddock, like many actresses, is pretty damn fearless. She left school at the age of 17 and moved to London to study drama. I didn’t have the balls to do anything except get high and cheat on math tests when I was 17. The utmost props deserve to be bestowed on Haddock because it looks like her risky career move is paying off as she’s really starting to blow up a bit.

The path to fame is a tough one, but Haddock has been pretty steadily employed over the last decade. She made her television debut in the pilot Plus One as part of the Comedy Showcase 2008. She’s also appeared in The PalaceMy FamilyThe Colour of MagicMarple: A Pocket Full of Rye and Life is Wild. Sure, none of these were huge roles that catapulted her to fame, but they came with a paycheck and growing prestige. Getting your name out there is half the battle.

Also, fun fact, she’s married to Sam Clafin AKA Finnick Odair from The Hunger Game movies. Pretty cool, no?

Anyway, Haddock has the fair skinned, sharp features type of beauty you see with a lot of British actresses. There’s something intoxicatingly refined about her. Don’t believe me? Check out some of her best photos above.

Kim Jong Un Lives In Constant Fear Of Being Assassinated & Hopefully He’s Right

You think Kim Jong Un was sweating before the passing of Otto Warmbier? His fat ass is about to lose some serious weight with how high the heat is going to be turned up now.

Before, the United States government seemed content to just let North Korea isolate themselves with their delusions. Was it the ideal situation? No, but what other options did we have? Invading North Korea means war. A brief, relatively simple war, but war nonetheless. And there was no reasoning with them, because, well, they’re North Korea, so for a while, leaving them be was our best course of action.

But then Otto Warmbier died, and I have a feeling that’s going to change everything. It’s one thing to threaten the United States — it’s another thing entirely so essentially hand down a death sentence to an American citizen over a stolen poster. I’m no geopolitical expert, but something tells me this tragic Warmbier situation is going to change how our government handles the DPRK

However, according to a Fox News report, Kim Jong Un has been feeling like someone’s out to get him long before he killed Otto Warmbier.

via Fox News:

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is reportedly so terrified of being targeted for assassination that he travels incognito inside the Hermit Kingdom, and there’s growing evidence his paranoia may be well-founded.

The 33-year-old, third-generation ruler is “extremely nervous” about a clandestine plot to take him out, according to a key South Korean lawmaker who spoke to The Korea Herald. Rep. Lee Cheol-woo, chairman of the South Korean parliament’s intelligence committee, made the claim based on reports from South Korea’s intelligence agency.

“Kim is engrossed with collecting information about the ‘decapitation operation’ through his intelligence agencies,” Lee said following a briefing last week.

Whether it be by decapitation, lethal injection, Final Destination, asphyxiation, WHATEVER, I think literally every single human being on earth can agree that it’s Kim Jong Un’s time to go.

Conor McGregor Got A Mural Of Himself Knocking Out Floyd Mayweather Painted

Look, I’ve already placed my bet on Conor McGregor. Got him at +600, put down a hundred bucks, and haven’t looked back since.

Are the odds in my favor? Not even close. Odds are, Conor loses. But I’m not betting on whether Conor can outlast Floyd — if it goes the distance, Floyd wins, everyone knows this.

I’m betting on whether Conor McGregor, a generational talent and one of the best strikers in the world in the prime of his career, can land one of his world famous left hooks on a 40-year-old Floyd. Boxing matches are long, and while Conor may have zero — literally, zero — professional boxing experience, the man is a born puncher. In a sport that coined the termed puncher’s chance, I’m willing to ride with Conor McGregor having a chance to land one good punch.

Conor is coming into the fight with nothing to lose and everything to gain, while Floyd’s situation is the opposite. The pressure squarely is on Floyd to win. He’s the heavy favorite.

But what if he gets shook early? What if Conor is able to knock him down? We all know how Conor performs under pressure, but what about Floyd?

Who knows. Odds are, Floyd wins.

But there’s always that chance, and if there’s anyone in the world who I believe can take advantage of that chance, it’s Conor McGregor.

University of California Criticized For Favoring Illegal Immigrants Over Out-Of-State Americans

The University of California system’s decision to limit the number of American citizens, especially out-of-state residents, and increase the admission rate for illegal immigrants, is drawing lots of backlash from education activists.

How could a reputable and popular university system cater to non-Americans first? The reason resides from a legislation recently passed by the California State Government. State lawmakers threatened to withhold from the university system nearly $20 million if school officials didn’t cap the number of out-of-state American students.

As a result, UC system recently instituted Regents Policy 2109.  In addition to this policy, the percentage of out-of-state American student percentage was limited to 18 percent on most campuses.

The critics adamantly believe that this move is discriminatory against Americans. The UC system statistics illustrate that there are roughly 3,700 illegal immigrants currently studying. Besides that, 16.5 percent of its student body are comprised of out-of-state students.

“This policy applies to students who, under California law AB (Assembly Bill) 540, qualify as state residents for tuition purposes,” Ricardo Vazquez, spokesman for the University of California, said to Fox News. AB 540 allows students to pay in-state tuition fees if they meet certain requirements.

This policy certainly puts Californians and Americans as a whole in a critical condition. Since illegal immigrants are not counted as out-of-state students, they are taking away admission spots away from prospective American students.

Henry Cavill Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Superman Actor Worth Right Now

Henry Cavill has been in the Hollywood game for a minute. Ever since his debut in 2001, the iron-jawed hunk has basically been living every man’s fantasy: ripped muscles, international fame, making out with Amy Adams. You know, the usual stuff.

Being Superman is pretty damn cool. Yeah, his movies have actually kind of sucked and the DC Extended Universe is kind of meh, but Supes is the OG hero. Yet despite the character’s historic lore and the global box office success of the recent movies, Cavill isn’t quite as loaded as one might think.

Henry Cavill’s Net Worth as of 2017: $8 Million

How come Cavill isn’t wealthier? It’s important to remember that Superman was the British actor’s first blockbuster role. More money will surely follow, especially if the DCEU gets its act straight after the well-received Wonder Woman. But for now, let’s take a look at how Cavill got here.

2001 – 2007

(Photo by Anthony Harvey/Getty Images for Huawei )

In 2001, Cavill kick started his film career with a role in Laguna before nailing down a small but more mainstream role in the 2002 adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo. From there, Cavill was a steadily employed Hollywood worker with appearances in BBC’s The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (2002), the TV film Goodbye, Mr. Chips (2002) and the TV series Midsomer Murders (2003).

He also had small roles in the movies I Capture the Castle (2003), Hellraiser: Hellworld (2005), Red Riding Hood (2006), Tristan & Isolde (2006) and Stardust (2007). Again, none of these are going to line your pockets with Eff You money, but as a 20-something guy trying to break into Hollywood, this is a damn good start.

2007 – 2011

Getty Images

In 2007, Cavill got his first real substantive break in show business when he was cast in a leading role in Showtime’s The Tudors. For three years, Cavill played the role of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk in the period drama. The series put a spotlight on Cavill thanks to its positive reception, being nominated for a Golden Globe in 2007 and winning an Emmy in 2008. Cavill himself has credited the show for making his career.

“It’s done the most for me to date…Now that there’s an audience somewhere in America that’s aware of who I am, I have more sell-ability, because of The Tudors,” he said in 2010.

During his early career, Cavill was a classic case of close but no cigar. He was actually in the running to play the Man of Steel way back in 2004 before it fell apart. An online fan campaign tried to get him cast as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the Twilight author said he was a perfect choice for Edward Cullen in the movies. Cavill would end up losing both roles to Robert Pattinson. He was the finalist to play James Bond in Casino Royale opposite Daniel Craig, but producers opted for an older 007.

When Cavill said The Tudors gave him more sell-ability, he may not have realized how accurate that statement would quickly become.

In January 2011, it was announced that Cavill had been officially cast in the role of Clark Kent/Superman in director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honoured to be a part of his return to the big screen,” he said at the time. Man of Steel would go on to earn $668 million at the worldwide box office in 2013. Though the movie was met with mixed reaction from fans and critics, there’s no question that the role launched Cavill into the stratosphere of fame.

In 2016, Cavill reprised his role in the critically panned Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which also featured Batman and Wonder Woman. Despite the negative reviews, BvS earned $872.7 million worldwide. The 34-year-old will again appear as Superman in November’s Justice League.

In the interim of all his caped adventures, Cavill starred alongside Armie Hammer in the film version of the spy TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He’s also booked a role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 6.

With looming blockbusters and expanding opportunities, we’re confident Cavill will build on his $8 million net worth.

Boy Meets World is dope. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. Anyone who couldn’t laugh at the hijinx, relate to the characters, learn from Mr. Feeny or just generally enjoy the show clearly was born without a soul. Seriously, what’s wrong with you?

Of all the things I loved about Boy Meets World there was one clear aspect that stood above the rest: Topanga Lawrence. I had the most massive crush on Topanga and I would have gladly beaten the crap out of Corey Matthews to get to her. Actress Danielle Fishel stole the heart of 5-year-old me and never relinquished her grip on it. That love only deepened with the 2014 revival series Girl Meets World where we got to see her, Corey and the gang all grown up.

So you can only imagine my pain and anger when, at age 27, Fishel began attending California State University, Fullerton where she became a math tutor and met fellow student Tim Belusko. After three years of dating, her and Belusko became engaged and were married in 2013. Though the relationship didn’t last, it still broke my heart.

Following the cancellation of Girl Meets World this year, Fishel is once again a free agent in Hollywood. She’s probably got enough cash stashed up to just kick it as a single mom, but here’s to hoping she get back on screen sometime. Brandon needs himself some Topanga.

While the Red Sox are loaded with gifted young players (Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr.), shortstop Xander Bogaerts was a widely renowned talent internationally before joining Boston in the major leagues. Born in Aruba, Bogaerts displayed his abilities as a precision hitter while playing for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox. Once Bogaerts joined the Boston Red Sox in the majors, it became readily apparent that the cerebral shortstop was a natural and had the potential to be one of the most versatile infielders in baseball. Given Bogaerts’ strong work ethic and proven abilities, the question remains of how much is the consistent playmaker actually worth?

Xander Bogaerts’ Net Worth as of 2017: $5.8 Million

How did the dynamic shortstop get there? And how have his crucial accomplishments enabled him to garner this type of wealth? Let’s find out.

After starting the season with the Portland Sea Dogs of the Class AA Eastern League in 2013, Bogaerts was quickly promoted to the Pawtucket Red Sox of the Triple-A International League. After a brief stint in Pawtucket, Bogaerts made his debut with the Boston Red Sox on August 20th against the San Francisco Giants. Despite playing in just 18 major league games, Bogaerts was able to display his defensive and hitting abilities throughout his time with the Red Sox, which earned him a place on the 25-man active roster for the MLB postseason. In 12 postseason games, Bogaerts had a strong showing as he batted .296 with two RBI’s and ultimately assisted the Red Sox in winning their eighth World Series title in franchise history.

Coming into the 2014 season, Bogaerts was named the starting shortstop for the defending champion Boston Red Sox. While Bogaerts’ batting statistics were not flashy, he proved to be a valuable asset on defense as he had a fielding percentage of .975. Although the Red Sox missed the postseason and finished last in the AL East, Bogaerts was able to prove his worth on the field defensively and would go on to have a phenomenal year offensively next season.

Statistically, 2015 was Bogaerts’ best season to date by far. His batting average improved from .240 to .320 (second only to Miguel Cabrera for the AL batting title) while raising his on base percentage (.297 to .355). As a result of his batting prowess throughout the season, Bogaerts was awarded with the Silver Slugger award for his position. To top it off, Bogaerts’ defensive abilities were also deservedly recognized as he was a finalist for the Gold Glove Award at shortstop.

He reportedly earned $543,000 in 2015.

In 2016, Bogaerts finally reached his potential as a prolific and precise power hitter. He finished the season with a .446 slugging percentage and 21 home runs (both career highs). Bogaerts’ patience at the plate was also mightily improved as he was walked a career high 58 times (was walked 32 times the previous season).

Thus far in the 2017 season, Bogaerts is on pace to outperform his impressive showing from last year. He has a exceptional on base percentage of .371 and is consistently making contact with the ball as his batting average currently stands at .319.

Although Bogaerts is only 24, his contributions to the talent laden Boston Red Sox franchise have not gone unnoticed. From his overlooked defensive attributes to his nearly unwavering consistency at the plate, Bogaerts has already established himself as a beloved athlete that constantly contributes to his team winning games. Given what the young shortstop has already accomplished, it seems inevitable that the intelligent and athletic major league star will only become more proficient as a all-round sensational baseball player.

He reportedly earned $4.5 million in 2017.
