In addition to making tens of thousands of fans cheer for the Wolfpack, she’s also big on helping those in need–which is one of the reasons why she’s minoring in Social Work. She seems to be spirited on and off the field, which is something we think is super important in our Miss COEDs. Nicole’s already signed up for her third year of Miss COED, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back.

In recent years, there has been a big push in Hollywood and from fans to represent more diversity in the ever popular superhero genre. Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman just gobbled up more than $220 million worldwide in its opening weekend as the first female-led comic book film of the modern superhero era (sorry, Catwoman and Elektra). Next year, Marvel will drop Black Panther as the first modern comic book blockbuster with an African American lead (hat tip to Blade). Now, The CW is getting into the action.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is introducing its first Muslim-American superhero and has cast Tala Ashe to play the role of Zari Adrianna Tomaz.

Here’s the character breakdown:

A Muslim-American woman from the year 2030. Zari lives in a world of contradictions. Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice, and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a “grey hat hacktivist.”

Tomaz is described as a computer whiz with a wry, non-compliant personality and a woman living a double life who is yet to realize she has secret powers derive from an ancient, magical source. In her comic book roots, Zari’s alter-ego was Isis, after the Egyptian goddess, though it’s doubtful that will remain on Legends.

Ashe enjoyed a recurring role in NBC’s American Odyssey and has appeared on Smash, 30 Rock and Covert Affairs. The 32-year-old Iranian American will be a series regular in season 3.

Ashe joins Legends stars Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, Dominic Purcell, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano, Amy Pemberton, Matt Letscher and Maisie Richardson-Sellers in the series from Berlanti TV and Warner Bros. TV.

But before she pops up in season three, take a moment to get to know her in the gallery above. There’s no doubt that The CW is getting a drop dead gorgeous addition to its roster.

A South Shore Line train headed to Chicago derailed in the city’s Loop Tuesday afternoon. It is unknown at this time if there are any injuries. Service is currently suspended.

What Happened?

Around 2:00 P.M., westbound train N0. 18 derailed as it approached Millennium Station, located at the corner of Randolph St. and Michigan Ave., according to a commuter alert from Metra.

The train was scheduled to arrive at 2:14 P.M. after departing the South Bend Airport station in northwest Indiana at 12:49 P.M.

It is unknown at this time if there have been any injuries.

“South Shore trains are unable to enter or exit the station,” South Shore said on its website. “Passengers are encouraged to find alternative transportation for their eastbound trip. Metra is honoring South Shore tickets.”

Trains on the South Shore Line was temporarily halted, according to Metra, with the delay expected to last at least an hour.

Metra planned to honor previously purchased South Shore tickets until further notice on the Electric District line, which was experiencing delays of approximately 15 to 20 minutes, according to the transit agency.

No other details were immediately available.

South Shore Line

The South Shore Line (reporting mark NICD) is an electrically powered interurban commuter rail line operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) between Millennium Station in downtown Chicago and the South Bend International Airport in South Bend, Indiana. The name refers to both the physical line and the service operated over that route. The line was built in 1901–08 by predecessors of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad, which continues to operate freight service. Passenger operation was assumed by the NICTD in 1989.

Colleen Campbell, a 28-year-old television reporter for PHL17, has been fired after she was caught on video unleashing a tirade against a Philadelphia police officer.

Campbell, 28, was filmed calling a Philly cop a ‘f***ing piece of s**t.’ She also tried to spit on another man after she was kicked out of Philadelphia’s Helium Comedy Club on Sunday night.

She also bragged in the video that she worked at a f***ing news station’, however, she soon was fired from her job at PHL17 after the footage emerged.

The video, which has been viewed almost 2 million times at the time of this writing, shows Campbell saying “Or what? Or what, mother f–ker? Lick my a–hole. How about that? F–king piece of s–t. That’s why nobody likes f–king police…idiots in this f–king town.”

“When I came home, I called my producer to talk about why I was absent,” Campbell told Philadelphia Magazine. “I didn’t realize a video was out. I found out about it later because HR called me and said I was being terminated. They said there’s a video. I said, ‘What video?’”

New York-based comedian Wil Sylvince posted a 5-minute clip of a “very obnoxious” Campbell after she was kicked out of the club for “loud whispering” throughout the show.

She denied being disruptive to an officer, prompting a man who was accompanying her to thank the cop for his patience. The officer replied that he just wanted the pair to walk away.

Furthermore, Campbell claimed in a Facebook post that she only had one drink and suggested she might have been drugged. She has since deleted allof her social media accounts and claims been receiving “threats”.

Campbell says she wishes to apologize to the officer.

Freeform’s Pretty Little Liars continues its seventh season tonight with episode No. 17, “Driving Miss Crazy” at 8:00 P.M. ET. Here’s what happened last week:

Spencer steals a hard drive on Lucas from Marco’s apartment about Lucas’ alibi confession to the police the night Archer was killed. “A.D.” sends Aria to destroy Alison and Emily’s nursery, while dressed in her black “A” hoodie. In Hanna’s turn at the game, “A.D.” makes her pick up something at the computer repair shop and bring it to Rosewood High School. The Liars have a confrontation with Lucas where he explains to them that he didn’t know Charles and Charlotte were the same person, or that Charlotte was “A.” They only stayed friends over email. A second comic book exists and this one depicts turning vengeance into a game. Aria breaks down in remorse after her plot to destroy the nursery. The girls realize “A.D.” has a helper who was breaking into the nursery, while they were back at the high school. Meanwhile, Caleb and Hanna return to Lucas’s loft with the hard drive Hanna picked up based on “A.D.”s instructions. The audio file contains a Patsy Cline song. Hanna remembers that “A” played a different Patsy song in the Dollhouse. Alison finally admits her feelings to Emily and shares a kiss with her.

Put it this way: if Kesha was truly a Seinfeld fan, then she would have seen this outcome from a mile away.

If Kesha was a true Seinfeld fan, she would KNOW that Seinfeld would never, ever, have any clue who Kesha is. My man Seins is a 60-something-year old Jewish dude with a net worth of close to one BILLION dollars. And Kesha thinks that dude is going to be familiar with the musician responsible for ‘Tik Tok’ and ‘Timber’? Preposterous.

It almost reads like an episode of Seinfeld, too.

Jerry is at some boujee dinner when he is approached by a pretty blonde woman who says she’s a huge fan. They have a few drinks, chat it up, and have a great time. He knows she’s a famous pop star, but doesn’t know which one — either way, she’s into him. And just as they’re about to leave, he calls her by what he thinks her name is: Iggy Azalea.

Only one problem, she’s actually Kesha.

So no, despite her recent troubles, I don’t feel bad for Kesha on this one. If she was half the Seinfeld fan she claims to be, she would have known this interaction was going to end in embarrassment.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport in relation to the Manchester Arena terror attack, according to the Greater Manchester Police.

What Happened?

A 38-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of offenses contrary to the Terrorism Act. The arrest was a pre-planned police operation and the suspect was not attacking the airport, GMP clarified. The GMP stressed that there was “no direct threat” to the UK’s busiest airport.

A GMP spokesperson said:

“A man has been arrested at Heathrow Airport in connection with the investigation into the attack at Manchester Arena.

“The 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to the Terrorism Act and remains in custody.

“The arrest was planned beforehand and there was no direct threat to the airport.”

Overall, 19 people have been arrested in connection with the suicide bombing that killed 22 people. Twelve of these people have been released without charge and seven remain in police custody.

The GMP spokesperson continued:

“As it stands 19 people in total have been arrested in connection with the investigation, of which 12 people have since been released without charge.

“A total of seven men remain in custody for questioning.”

The identity of the man arrested at Heathrow has not yet been released by authorities.

No other details are immediately available.

Manchester Bombing

On May 22, 2017, a suicide bombing occurred at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, following a concert by American singer Ariana Grande. Twenty-three adults and children were killed, including the attacker, and 119 were injured, 23 critically.

Grande headlined the One Love Manchester benefit concert on Sunday, two weeks after the attack, which raised more than $3.5 million for the victims.

Gambling is hard. No matter how much time and effort you put into it, it’s really effing difficult to pull off big winning bets. Unless, of course, you’re the luckiest dude in the world.

Some guy who must be half-leprechaun made bank after hitting a 10-team parlay on Bovada. The bet included both baseball and basketball teams and not just the NBA. The guy snuck in a WNBA team, Serie A team and a Super Liga team because why the hell not?

They went safe to start off, taking the Golden State Warriors first quarter point spread. The bettor also took the run line on the Mets and Dodgers games, in addition to the money line on the Rockies, Yankees and Twins game. When it was all over, the bettor turned a $155 10-team parlay into a filthy amount of money. Check it out:

Lucky bastard.

As someone who has been burned on parlays far too many times, I can tell you that parlays are hard to hit. I rarely dabble in anything more than a three-team parlay. So the fact that this bettor hit on all 10 is honestly unfathomable. It kind of pisses me off but I don’t want the betting gods to give me bad karma. $155 to win $96,000?! Jeez.

Anyway, kudos to this person. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Mojo gains control in the early going over the match. He pushes Mahal into the corner and then slams the WWE Champion to the mat. Mahal leaves the ring to catch his breath.

Mahal goes back in the ring. Both men run the ropes, but Jinder gets knocked down by a big shoulder-block. Jinder goes back to the outside for a breather.

Rawley looks primed for victory as he dominates the WWE Champion. But then he gets distracted by the Singh Brothers, and Mahal turns the tide. Jinder gains control, but gets knocked down with a backdrop.

Mojo mounts a comeback, knocking down Mahal with a clothesline and shoulder-blocks. But Mahal gets dirty and rakes his eyes. Jinder hits the Khallas slam and that it’s for Mojo.

The New Day vs. The Colons

The New Day is throwing out boxes of Booty-Os cereal on the way to the ring. Big E even feeds a young boy with some Booty-Os. Xaiver Woods begins the match against Primo who gains control. Woods turns the tide with some hard shots and a dropkick.

Big E and Epico get the tag. Big E immediately gains control and locks Epico in an abdominal stretch. Primo enters the ring and tries to break up the move, but he gets caught by Woods who puts him in his own abdominal stretch. Both Woods and Big E lick their hand and start spanking their opponents.

Big E quits the comedy and rams Primo right into the barricade. Big E is kicking ass. He even uses Woods as a weapon to drop on an unfortunate Colon brother. Big E gyrates, runs the ropes and splashes on his opponent.

The Colons try to mount a comeback on Xavier. But once Big E gets back in the ring, they crumble under the strength of the big man. The New Day hits the Midnight Hour to end their SmackDown Live debut match.

Sami Zayn is talking about studying Shinsuke Nakamura. Zayn says that he will be at ringside for tonight’s main-event between Nakamura and Owens. Nakamura gains control, sending KO to the floor. But when we come back from the commercial break, Owens is in charge. We see a clip that shows Owens launching Shinsuke into the barricade. Owens has Nakamura floored with a headlock. KO drops his opponent with a DDT and goes for cover. 1..2…kick out!

Owens traps Nakamura in the headlock once more. Nakamura escapes, trades some shots and drops KO with a huge kick to the head. Nakamura gains complete control. He places Owens on the top rope and takes him out with a running high knee. KO goes for the cover once again, but Shinsuke kicks out at 2.

Evergreen State College has reopened after angry protests over race have drawn national attention.

Evergreen State shut down on Thursday, June 1,  after someone called the county 911 line and said he had a .44 magnum and was headed to campus to “execute as many people on that campus as I can get ahold of.”

The Olympia, Washington public school reopened over the weekend but was forced to shut down temporarily again Monday.

Thurston County Sheriff John Snaza said school officials were responding to the threat from last week as well as an incident Sunday night. “They have had people walking around with sticks and baseball bats late at night causing property damage,” including graffiti and broken windows, he said Monday. “They asked us to come out and assist.”

He said campus police told him there was about $10,000 worth of property damage.

The Evergreen State College Police Department referred questions to a college spokesman, Zach Powers, who did not immediately have answers to questions about the property damage.

Evergreen State College, which has a student body of about 4,500 students, began receiving national attention after a video of protests over race on campus went viral.

In May, students confronted a professor who had objected to a request by school officials that white people consider avoiding campus on a day of discussions about race. The protesters accused him of racism and demanded that he be fired.

On Monday, school officials announced that law enforcement officials had been examining information received over the weekend and campus was closed on Monday to give law enforcement an opportunity to evaluate new information.

“At Evergreen, campus safety is our number-one priority. After consultation with law enforcement today, we have determined there is no active threat to campus. We are ready to get back to the business of teaching and learning,” Evergreen President George Bridges said in a statement.

Video from Philadelphia shows the moment a mentally challenged man was sucker punched in the face as he walked down a street in the Germantown area of the city.

In the 30-second clip, a man is seen smiling before being distracted by a teenage boy who punches him in the face for no reason.

The victim, Gerald Andrews Sr, appeared shocked by the attack and was knocked backward by the strike.

Gerald Andrews Sr., 48, said the victim was a co-worker at a ShopRite in Cheltenham and identified him by his first name, Mark. “He keeps that smile on his face. He wants to talk sports. He’s a good guy,” Andrews said Monday night about Mark.

Andrews said he learned about the video from another co-worker and posted a copy Monday afternoon on Facebook. “It’s heartbreaking,” he said of the attack.

As of 9 p.m. the video had been viewed more than 100,000 times and had been shared nearly 3,900 times. Andrews said he did not know where the video was originally posted.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Eric Gripp, the Northwest Detectives Division is investigating the assault. Gripp asked anyone with information in the suspects to contact police.

“Obviously, what is depicted in the video is very disturbing,” Gripp said. “We would implore anyone who has info on the video, or who knows the identity of the victim to reach out to police.”

On Tuesday, after the video went viral, police arrested four of the individuals seen punching the Andrews.

“There’s no rhyme or reason. It appears, One could think it’s for kicks and giggles by sick minded people in this case juveniles,” said police

The suspects were charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment.

But even I have to admit these a pretty damn fire. Taking a cue from Nike Roches or adidas boosts, Curry & Under Armour have finally found a look that works.

An Iowa woman has been arrested after she was caught on video climbing over a counter at a McDonald’s to assault an employee.

Valerie Shepherd, 21, was arrested on Tuesday, June 6, by Des Moines police. She was charged with assault causing injury and disorderly conduct.

The assault occurred around 9 PM on Saturday, June 3, when two men and Shepherd entered the McDonald’s on East Euclid Avenue in Iowa.

Shepherd and the two men ordered McChicken sandwiches, however, they became angry with how long it was taking to receive the chicken sandwiches. According to police, this is what eventually led to the brawl.

The heated, profanity-laden argument continued between McDonald’s staff and the woman, the video shows. The manager is seen handing the woman a McChicken she ordered, but the woman rejects it and throws the chicken sandwich back in her face. Two men with the woman soon approached the counter and an employee attempted to dial 911, but the woman knocked the phone out of her hand and then punched her, the employee told police.

In the video, the manager holds back a punch, which prompts the woman to climb the counter and throw punches of her own. She knocks over a couple of bottles and the fighting continues. “Grab her hair,” one of the men who accompanied the woman is heard saying in the video.

After the woman came across the counter and a man she was with came through a door behind the counter and grabbed the woman around the throat with his arm, the report states. There were as many as nine people behind the counter involved in the altercation, with staff and the two men among others having to separate the manager and woman.

Shepherd and the two men left the scene in a blue, four-door Ford pickup. Employees said they believed they were intoxicated.

As several fans have pointed out on Twitter, the source code for Complex’s version of the banner reveals multiple apparent references to Jay-Z’s streaming music company, The URL for the image contains the text “tidal-444.”

Emergency services have swooped on the Palace of Holyrood in Scotland after a “suspicious letter” was sent. It is reported the package that was delivered contained white powder along with a note.

What’s Happening?

According to The Sun: “It was a letter that was sent and when opened a note and white powder was discovered.

“Due to the current alert it’s feared the white powder is some sort of harmful chemical.

“A full response has been initiated until it’s known exactly what the powder is.”

Ambulance and fire crews responded to the popular tourist destination in the heart of the capital of Edinburg.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to the Palace of Holyrood House around 12.05pm after reports were received that a suspicious letter had been delivered.

“Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”

Tourists have taken to social media to report the incident, but have said there has not been an evacuation.

The Palace of Holyrood is the official residence of the monarch in Scotland.

The Queen spends one week in reisdence at Holyrood Palace at the beginning of each Summer where she carried out engagements and ceremonies.

Alex Rodriguez is reportedly being blackmailed by an ex-girlfriend. According to TMZ, a woman the former baseball star, 41, dated in 2014 is demanding $600,000 from A-Rod, otherwise she will release private text messages.

What’s Happening?

According to the report, Rodriguez, who is now dating Jennifer Lopez, was not in a serious relationship with the woman but she has continued to reach out to him over the last three years.

TMZ reports that the woman increased her financial demands once Rodriguez began dating Lopez earlier this year. In the last week she demanded $600,000 or else she would contact media outlets and share the private messages.

A source told the site that the woman “intended to release old texts with Alex from when they were dating, and make it seem like he was still contacting her while dating Jennifer.”

Rodriguez has reportedly told the ex that he will not pay and is now in a “committed” relationship with Lopez. He has also told his legal team who are prepared to go to the authorities if the threats continue. Lopez is said to be supporting Rodriguez through the incident and “empathizes having gone through similar situations in the past,” according to TMZ.

Lopez and Rodriguez have been dating since February after she ended things with backup dancer Casper Smart.
