Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver, who legally changed his name to War Machine, received a sentence life in prison with the possibility of parole after 36 years for the kidnapping and rape of his ex-girlfriend, Christy Mack.

During his sentencing, he compared himself to the late Aaron Hernandez and said he “should have killed himself by now” before he was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and sexually assaulting Mack.

The earliest that 35-year-old War Machine could get out of prison will be at 71 years old, after he was convicted on 29 of 34 charges for the crimes against Mack, who he also threatened to murder.

While giving a statement on Monday, June 5, War Machine referred to the late Aaron Hernandez, the former NFL player who committed suicide in a Massachusetts prison in April, saying:

“I should have killed myself by now. There’s no reason right now that I shouldn’t be in the dirt right now laying next to Aaron Hernandez. That’s 100%true.”

“Not a day goes by that I don’t seriously regret all those things that I did. I was a very, very lost, very empty person. And to top it off, something’s not right with my head. Plain and simple. I’ve known that a long time and I’ve hated it. I’ve hated the way that I think.”

The August 2014 assault began when War Machine burst into a bedroom and found Mack in bed with another man, Corey Thomas. Machine began attacking Thomas for roughly 10 minutes, biting him and putting him in a choke hold. War Machine eventually let Thomas leave, ordering him not to call the police.

This is when he turned his attention to Mack, who was left with a broken nose, missing teeth, fractured eye socket, leg injuries, and a lacerated liver. Mack says she escaped when she thought Koppenhaver was in the kitchen getting a knife to ‘finish her off,’ running naked and bleeding to neighbors’ homes.

War Machine was arrested in the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley a week after the attack in Las Vegas and originally pleaded not guilty to the 34 charges.

Point I’m making is, in all likelihood, this is going to be the most frenetic and electric season of Thrones yet, and if you have any sense, you’re going to want to watch it live.

But what if you’re one of the psychopaths unlucky ones who haven’t peeped Thrones yet? Do you have time to catch up in time for the July 16 premiere? Is it realistically possible?

Luckily for those of you out there, it is possible. Very much so.

So, how long will it take to make it through the whole series if you’re starting now? We’ve calculated the run times of every episode so you can plan your life around watching Game of Thrones accordingly. Here’s what you’re looking at in terms of time per episode, and per season:

• Season 4 = 543 minutes = 9 hours and 3 minutes

• Total: 55 hours 28 minutes

In chunks, that’s pretty digestible, but of you need, there are some areas where you can save yourself some time. Opening credits vary but are typically 1:35-1:45 in length. You can skip all but the opening episode credits for every season, and season 6 episode 10 as it has the glorious reclamation of Winterfell by the Starks, so you’re skipping 53 opening credits, which would save you 88 minutes and 33 seconds.

With the premiere coming on July 16th, as of this writing, you have 41 days, with the seconds and minutes counting down. That means you’ll need to watch roughly 1.4 episodes per day, including on the day of the premiere, to get completely caught up on everything that’s happened in Westeros over the last few years.

So there you have it — if you want to catch up by the Thrones premiere and not be a cultural outcast, you have to crush one and a half episodes per day. Easy money if you ask me. Just power through the first season and you won’t be able to peel your eyes away.

The third London Bridge attacker has been identified as 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba. He, along with Khuram Butt and Rachid Redouane killed seven and injured 48 others on Saturday night. Zaghba was born in Fez, Morocco to an Italian mother and Moroccan father. He was suspected of trying to travel to a Syria from Italy last year, according to Italian media.

Who Is He?

Corriere Della Sera reports that Italian officials notified British security o Zaghba but that he was apparently allowed into the country and even managed to get a job in a London restaurant.

Zaghba may have been stopped at Bologna airport last year with a one-way ticket to Istanbul with just a backpack, passport and mobile phone on him.

The 22-year-old was n a “persons at risk” list but had been acquitted of terrorism charges, according to an Italian intelligence source. While working his “seasonal job” in London, he continued to speak to his mother back home.

The Met police insist that Zaghba was not a “subject of interest,” but the claims from Italy will continue to bring scrutiny upon British security services. Making matters worse is the fact that Zaghba’s identity was revealed in Italy before Scotland Yard confirmed it, similar to how details of the Manchester bombing leaked in the United States before police in the UK could release the specifics.

Scotland Yard seems to believe Zaghba has been in the capital for awhile, describing him as “of east London.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “While formal identification is yet to take place, detectives believe he is 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba, from east London. The deceased’s family have been informed.

“He is believed to be an Italian national of Moroccan dissent. He was not a police or MI5 subject of interest.”

Similarly, Butt had been looked at by security officials, but his case was downgraded as it was not believed he was planning an attack. While Redouane was not know to any intelligence communities, many are criticizing British intelligence for not taking the known affiliations of Butt and Zaghba more seriously.

London Bridge Attack

On Saturday, June 3, Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba drove a hired van into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing people in the area around Borough Market. The trio of terrorists killed seven individuals and injured 48 more before armed officers killed all three within eight minutes of receiving a 999 call.

Clay Higgins, a Republican congressman from Louisiana nicknamed ‘Cajun John Wayne’, is in hot water for a Facebook post he wrote after the London terror attacks.

In the post, Higgins called for all radical Muslims to be hunted down and killed. Higgins wrote the post on Sunday, June 4, the day after the attack in London that left seven dead.

‘The free world… all of Christendom… is at war with Islamic horror. Not one penny of American treasure should be granted to any nation who harbors these heathen animals. Not a single radicalized Islamic suspect should be granted any measure of quarter. Their intended entry to the American homeland should be summarily denied. Every conceivable measure should be engaged to hunt them down. Hunt them, identify them, and kill them. Kill them all. For the sake of all that is good and righteous. Kill them all,’ Higgins wrote.

Reached by phone, Higgins told The Washington Post that he was surprised that his message was interpreted by some as hateful or an indictment against Islam — in fact, he said, he didn’t view the post as controversial at all.

He said he was calling for the death of Islamic terrorists, not peaceful Muslims. When he used the word “Christendom,” he said, he was referencing the Western world, not calling for a war between Christianity and Islam. Working in law enforcement, Higgins said, he interacted with people from different faiths and backgrounds and has always respected people based on “what was in their heart.”

“I can tell you that there weren’t many Muslims in that part of Louisiana, but those that I have met have been very cool and very loving,” Higgins said. “Many Muslims are American citizens and I’d give my last life’s blood for any one of them, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to speak out boldly and from my heart about the threat we face as a nation and as a world.”

Louisiana Democrats were quick to denounce Higgins comments, however, saying that ‘we need level headed, steadfast leadership to guide and protect us’ and not ‘hot-headed vitriolic language that terrorists aim to provoke.’

However, according to Higgins, he said was deeply affected by the recent terror attacks and believes some Americans fail to realize our society is at war with an enemy who must be killed to be defeated.

“I think I’m well-documented as being a compassionate, loving human being,” he said. “But I got no love for people who blow up children at a concert. What kind of a man would strap a bomb to his chest and blow up children?”

Higgins, the former Reserve Deputy Marshal of Lafayette, is the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district. He won the runoff election held on December 10, 2016, in which he defeated fellow Republican Scott Angelle, winning  56.1 percent of the votes.

He has yet to remove the post from his Facebook page.

People who lived and worked around Southwark Street had been allowed to re-enter their homes and businesses in the wake of Saturday night’s atrocities. But this lunchtime they were told to evacuate the buildings, with many on Twitter claiming they had been told not to return tomorrow.

What’s Happening?

The London Bridge is once again on lockdown following Saturday night’s terrorist attack. It is unclear what has caused this new lockdown, though witnesses are describing the scene on Twitter.

The Daily Star Online has reached out to Met Police for comment but have not yet received any details on why the premises are being evacuated once again.

This latest development comes soon after police released the identity of the third attacker – 22-year-old Youssef Zaghba. In addition, the last Whatsapp message from fellow attacker Khuram Butt has also been revealed.

Authorities are continuing to investigate whether or not the three attackers had any links with any other terror cells. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the “fighters” that carried out the attack.

Each of the 12 people arrested in East London following the tragedy has been released without charges.

Arda Turan, a Turkish international and Barcelona midfielder, was kicked off the Turkish national team squad on after verbally and physically assaulting a Turkish sports journalist on a plane carrying the national team from Macedonia’s Skopje to Italy’s Trieste.

Turan was told to leave the team camp by coach Fatih Terim after the coach held a meeting with federation officials. The attack allegedly took place late on June 5. Turan reportedly approached Turkish sports journalist Bilal Meşe before the plane took off and began screaming at him.

Turan was reportedly angry about Turan stories reported in the Turkish media during the national team’s troubled European Championships last year. Turkey failed to advance from its group with two losses in three games.

“Tell me Bilal Meşe, were you there? Were you with us when you wrote about the bonuses issue? Who did I ask for money from? Who did ask I for bonuses from? Talk. Come on. Who made you write those reports?” Turan reportedly shouted at Meşe, a veteran journalist who had blamed skipper Turan for much of the squad disharmony.

“What kind of a country is this? They allow you onto this plane. F*** those who allowed you onto this plane. You thought I was like the others. Who did I beg for money from? You son of a b****. I’d quit football before allowing anyone to say anything against my honour, my family,” he added.

“Your boss is [TFF President Yıldırım] Demirören. You are from the newspaper of the TFF president! Isn’t your boss the TFF president?” Turan shouted.

Turan reportedly had to be restrained by teammates as he grabbed Meşe by the throat.

After the incident, Turan posted to Instagram to seemingly confirm the incident, saying: “Did I do right yesterday? I don’t know!!!”

“Maybe not right, but at least honest, honourable, esteemed behaviour … Did I get an answer? No … [He] filled up the pages for months, but in front of me he had no more than two words,” Turan wrote.

Turan is rumored to be transferred from Barcelona this summer, with English Premier League club Arsenal being the favorite to sign him.

Some white people at some super shady conglomerate corporation try to break some medical ground, I.E. curing cancer in I Am Legend, and then before you know it, the whole experiment turns to shit and you have zombies scooping out intestines. It’s really the definition of ‘life comes at you fast.’

I’ve long thought that science-fiction movies are essentially just warnings. For example, had anyone at Google or Uber or Tesla had seen any of the Terminator flipping over whenever they movies, they would KNOW that self-driving cars are a bad idea. But nope, they went all-in on automated automobiles, and now we have robots chauffering human beings around, flipping over whenever they damn please.

The latest example comes to you out of Philadelphia, where scary I-Robot sounding company Bioquark will soon be testing an unprecedented stem cell method on patients in an unidentified country in Latin America.

According to Bioquark CEO Ira Pastor, Bioquark has developed a series of injections that can reboot the brain, and they plan to try it out on humans later this year. In 2016, the company announced that they believe brain death is not ‘irreversible’.

The first stage, named ‘First In Human Neuro-Regeneration & Neuro-Reanimation’ was slated to be a non-randomized, single group ‘proof of concept’ study.

The team said they planned to examine individuals aged 15-65 declared brain dead from a traumatic brain injury using MRI scans, in order to look for possible signs of brain death reversal.

Specifically, they planned to break it down into three stages. First, they would harvest stem cells from the patient’s own blood, and inject this back into their body. Next, the patient would receive a dose of peptides injected into their spinal cord.

Finally, they would undergo a 15-day course of nerve stimulation involving lasers and median nerve stimulation to try and bring about the reversal of brain death, whilst monitoring the patients using MRI scans.

Essentially, short of a nuclear war with the Russians, this is a fast track to the apocalypse. It’ll start in the ‘unidentified Latin American country’, make its way up north, and before I know it, I’ll look outside my New York City window and see Brad Pitt mowing over zombies with an SUV.

Michigan State University Police Department Det. Chad Davis testified during a court hearing Tuesday that MSU football player Josh King pulled the alleged victim in a January sexual assault into a bathroom and forced her to perform oral sex before pulling her pants off and having forced vaginal sex with her. Davis also testified that MSU football players Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance then entered the bathroom and forced the woman to perform oral sex.

What Happened?

A judge has issued arrest warrants against the three MSU football players for sexual assault.

King, 19, is charged with one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third degree criminal sexual conduct, as well as with capturing an image of an unclothed person. Corley, 19, and Vance, 20, are charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct.

The Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office authorized the charges on Monday, almost four months after Michigan State University announced that the players and a staff member, Curtis Blackwell, had been suspended and police had opened an investigation.

Blackwell, 39, had been the team’s director of college advancement and performance at the time of his suspension.

A report released on Monday from the law firm Jones Day, hired by MSU to investigate the football program’s handling of two reported sexual assaults, determined that there’s evidence Blackwell violated university policy.

Hannah Pasley, a 3-year-old aspiring police officer from Kansas City, Missouri, is taking her civic duty seriously. The entrepreneurial young girl is quenching the thirst of dozens of police officers responding to an “emergency” call to visit her lemonade stand.

The Kansas City Star reports that Pasley set up her lemonade stand last Friday and Saturday to raise money to buy her own police uniform. After buying the uniform Saturday morning, the young girl opened for business that afternoon clad in a police coat and hat.

But when business slowed, Pasley’s aunt Ashley Rooks and her friend Sierra Moore took to Facebook to rally local cops to pay a little visit.

Rooks says the street was quickly crammed with squad cars. Moore claimes “50 plus” officers responded and a police helicopter even flew by overhead.

Hannah Pasley was awarded with a Kansas City Police Department patch and a Clay County Junior Deputy badge.

Police in Paris are responding to an incident at Notre-Dame Cathedral on Tuesday where an individual reportedly attacked an officer with a hammer, officials said.

Paris police said a “number of police” are at the square in front of the cathedral. They urged people to avoid the area.

What Happened?

Police have confirmed that a man has been shot after he attempted to attack a police officer with a hammer.  The officer defended himself from the attacker, firing two shots. The suspected attacker is reportedly injured but alive.

Tourists have been locked inside the famous site as the investigation continues.

A significant number of police cars have responded to the scene on the Ile de Cite island in the River Seine in the center of Paris.

Anti-terrorist prosecutors have opened a probe as a result of the incident and the attack is being treated as a terrorist incident.

The incident comes months after a man shouting “Allahu akbar” was shot as he tried to kill a French soldier with a machete outside Le Louvre.

France remains in a state of emergency from the Charlie Hebdo massacre Paris attacks, Nice attack and a series of murders carried out by ISIS supporters. Since 2015, terror attacks in France have killed more than 230 people.

The Islamic State also claimed responsibility for the London Bridge attack on Saturday night that killed seven and wounded 48.

Central Bucks Bucks School District in Pennsylvania has placed seven schools on lockdown a day after the it closed all of its schools following a prisoner escape in the area.

Via Central Bucks School District:

Due to police activity in the area, the Central Bucks School District currently has 7 schools in lock down. They are Central Bucks High School South, Tamanend and Unami Middle Schools, and Butler, Mill Creek, Titus, and Barclay Elementary schools. There is no immediate danger or threat to the schools, but we are following our lock down procedures as a precaution. Students will not be allowed to leave the building until the lock down is over. Parents should not go to the schools impacted since they will not be allowed into the building during a lock down.
We will provide additional information as it is available.

What’s Happening?

The school district has yet to reveal the exact nature of the incident that prompted the lockdowns. Bucks County dispatchers said police did not instruct the schools to go on lockdown. As of now, seven schools are on lockdown.

Authorities continue to search for Daniel Selby Jr., 25. who remained on the loose Tuesday. He is wanted on charges of aggravated assault of law enforcement, assault by prisoner and escape. He allegedly escaped Sunday night during a transport in the area of Bristol Road and Lower State Road in Doylestown Township.

UPDATE (1:00 P.M.): Selby is back in police custody, according to Doylestown Township Police. The lockout has been lifted.

UPDATE: Daniel Selby Sr., 65, has been arrested for allegedly dropping his son off in Philadelphia, according to Warrington Police.

“The resident reports (Selby) is now wearing a dark jacket, jeans, and boots,” police said in a news release.

Selby, who had no history of violent behavior, allegedly escaped after he claimed he was feeling ill during the transport, Doylestown Township police said. He managed to get free of his foot shackles and ran off while handcuffed and wearing an orange shirt, according to officials.

The Central Bucks School District closed schools Monday as a result of Selby’s escape.

Selby is not considered armed or dangerous by Central Bucks police. He was being held for failing to appear on a felony drug charge. He is 6-feet-tall with a scruffy beard and had on red handcuffs when he fled, according to police.

Central Bucks High School South, also known as CB South, is one of three high schools in the Central Bucks School District. The school is located in Warrington, Pennsylvania in Bucks County.

Completed in late 2004, the school opened in January 2005, so the first graduating class attended classes in the school only during the spring semester of that year. CB South is the most recent high school in the Central Bucks School District, following Central Bucks High School East and Central Bucks High School West. The high school hosts grades 10–12 and is built for a just under 2,000 students. Its two feeder schools are Unami Middle School and Tamanend Middle School.

CB South is located on Folly Road. The school cost approximately $84 million to build and is the largest in the Central Bucks School District school.

Two people have died and dozens more have been hospitalized in middle Georgia after overdosing on a street drug they believed to be Percocet, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

What Happened?

GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles tells the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that reports are still coming in and the number of deaths could increase.

In the past 48 hours, emergency workers responded to reports of overdoses in Centerville, Perry and Warner Robins, according to the AJC.

Responders are said to have found some individuals unconscious and not breathing and who had to be put on ventilators.

Miles said emergency workers had to give “massive doses” of Naloxone to counter the effects of the “yellow pills” that they believe were Percocet. She said pills on the street are often laced with many other drugs. The GBI does not yet know what exactly the drug is.

Naloxone is an emergency drug used to reverse opioid overdoses.

The Georgia Department of Public Health is also investigating, along with the GBI and local authorities.

Drug Overdose

Death from opioid overdoses has risen so far in 2017.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which released its latest report in February, the most recent tragic increase follows a pattern that’s been ongoing since 1999. In the last 16 years, more than 183,000 Americans have died from overdoses related to prescription opioids.

Drug overdose deaths in 2016 most likely exceeded 59,000, the largest annual jump ever recorded in the United States, according to preliminary data compiled by The New York Times.

I don’t know whether it’s the ending of The Leftovers or all the horrible terror attacks that have occurred in England, but the existence of God has been on my mind the last couple of weeks.

I’ve never been a very religious dude, but I have to say, I’m starting to lean towards the big man upstairs being a real possibility.

And it isn’t because I’ve had some religious experience, or because I met the love of my life who wants me to commit myself to God. No, it’s because I discovered the existence of Alina and Emilija Wellbrock.

The Wellbrocks, who are originally from Ukraine but have lived in Germany for the last 14 years, attended stage school, where they trained in acting, singing, and dancing. They now work as professional dancers and are both believed to be auditioning for roles in a new production of Grease.

They also happen to be my visual representation of what I imagine heaven is like.

Amidst being in the thick of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the start of the NBA Finals, we cannot forget that the Belmont Stakes is nearing closer. The event will be highlighted by Classic Empire and Irish War Cry who are both tied as 3/1 favorites to win the race. The race won’t include the previous winners of the first 2/3rds of the Triple Crown because the trainers have declined to have their horses participate in the race.

Fresh off the heels of last years hit Pokemon Sun and Moon, which many critics acclaimed that it brought some fresh air to the Pokemon series, Nintendo just announced a new game slated for fall 2017.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will add some new features and qualities to the game, as well as some new Pokemon to catch. Nintendo also said that this game will be a 3DS exclusive and not jump over the Switch, which disappointed a lot of fans who were hoping to play the new game on Nintendo’s new console. The game is set to have a new story as well that will take place after the previous adventure.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be out later this year on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo announced today. They’ll launch on Nov. 17 worldwide.

The game is heavily based on Pokémon Sun and Moon, last year’s pair of Pokémon role-playing games for Nintendo 3DS. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will further expand on the world and story of those entries, returning players to the Alola region. The game will also feature Pokémon not included in the original titles, which launched last year, according to director Junichi Masuda.

Expect more information on these titles later this year, Masuda said.

Hopefully, Nintendo makes this game worth the buy, as follow-up games seem to be a hit and a miss. Starting with Pokemon Yellow, which is a merger of Pokemon Blue and Red, the video game company saw how well the game sold and followed the trend with each new game. Yet, Pokemon White Version 2 and Pokemon Black Version 2, which was the first to be a split sequel rather than a combined, was met with skepticism from critics who saw it as basically a reskin with no new content. Here’s to hoping that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon doesn’t follow past mistake.

Want confirmation that LeBron really thinks he can get anyway with anything?

Let’s time travel back to 2011, before The King even won his first ring and before KD sold his soul to the devil. Apparently, those ringless tools thought, ‘Hey, maybe if this basketball thing doesn’t work out we could just become rappers instead.’

Well, an Ohio recording company named Spider Studios gave the world a brief snippet of LeBron and KD’s foray into the rap world, and needless to say, it’s absolutely atrocious.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant are dominating on the court as they try to inch their respective teams closer to obtaining the Larry O’Brien trophy, but what may surprise some is that they used to be brief teammates dominating in the studio. As legend has it, stashed away somewhere is a 6-year-old, never-before released hip-hop track by James and Durant.

League sources informed ESPN that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors superstars collaborated on the track during the lockout in 2011 while Durant, then a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, was visiting James, who had joined the Miami Heat, for workouts in Akron, Ohio. Both players are music junkies, and in between workouts they decided to kill some time by writing their own lyrics and heading to the booth, sources told ESPN.

Spider Studios says they will release the entire song if the tweet gets 1 million likes. In the less than 24 hours after tweeting out the song, it has received just over 4,500 likes, for short of the one million goals.

Maybe it’s because no one wants to cringe their way through listening to ball players mumble their way through a rap song.

Mark Kindschuh, a 19-year-old Boston College student studying abroad in London, was there when three terrorists attacked the London Bridge Saturday night.

The three men – identified as Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba – drove a van into a crowd of pedestrians on the bridge and stabbed several people at nearby Borough Market before the police shot and killed them. The attack left seven dead and 48 injured.

What Happened?

Kindschuh and friends were inside Wheatsheaf Pub in Borough Market when the chaos erupted. They hid under tables in the back as dozens of people ran inside looking for safety. One man, who the BBC reported appeared to be a Sheik man, collapsed near Kindschuh, who quickly sprung into action.

“When I reflect on this, that point is when it went from lifesaving to life-sacrificing,” Kindschuh’s father, also named Mark, told Fox News on Tuesday. “There is a difference. When he made the decision – that is a different category of exceptional.”

“All I could see was one man at the front on the ground with a pool of blood forming,” the student told ABC News. “You couldn’t really see it, because there was so much blood around his head, but I searched around with my hands, and it was on the back of his head.”

Kindschuh removed his belt and wrapped it around the man’s head to try and stop the bleeding. He then ran outside to try and find some medical help where police yelled at him to get back inside before shooting one of the alleged attackers.

“He could see it happen,” his father recounted. “The situation was chaotic.”

His father, who runs the emergency department at Coney Island Hospital in New York, said he did not believe his son was feint hearted about blood or injuries, but he never thought something like this would happen to him.

“The man is alive because he had the wherewithal to act,” Dr. Kindschuh said, adding that his son tried to go visit the man at the hospital on Tuesday, but was unable to get in.

Boston College has canceled the remainder of the study abroad program and Mark is set to return home in the next few days. A political science major, Kindschuh is set to intern at Sen. Chuck Schumer’s New York offices.

The 19-year-old is also a part of the ROTC, meaning he will serve in the U.S. military upon graduation. His father was unsure of this path, but said that Saturday’s actions have changed his mind.

“I’m in a comfort zone now that he’s made the right choice and I don’t have any qualms of him serving in the military,” he said. “He has the ability to lead, for sacrifice and to not let his battalion down. I’m very good with it all.”

He added: “I understand my son more than I did before. Your 19-year-old is now a full grown man. I’m good. He’s not needy anymore in any way, shape or form. It’s beautiful just to learn that.”

On Saturday, June 3, Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba drove a hired van into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing people in the area around Borough Market. The trio of terrorists killed seven individuals and injured 48 more before armed officers killed all three within eight minutes of receiving a 999 call.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for its “fighters” carrying out the attack.

Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Netflix’s smash hit series Stranger Things, recently sat down with Variety and had some pretty, pretttty interesting thins to say about the upcoming second season.

The duo have just returned from Atlanta, where they were filming season two, which they assure is “big in scope.” Both of them acknowledged the pressure in delivering a satisfying sophomore run after the first season emerged as last summer’s breakout series.

“There was pressure going into Season 1, too,” Ross said. “We were just worried no one was going to watch it. Now the pressure is we know people are going to watch it. It’s trying to make something that we think they’re going to like. … We’ve tried in the writers’ room to go, ‘OK, what do we want to see?’ And hopefully people will respond to that as well.”

Matt added, “A lot of the story for Season 2 was figured before the show had come out, so we had the big beats figured out already. It was almost scarier last year.”

The brothers were surprised with the overwhelmingly positive reaction to season one, but they didn’t want that to impact their writing this time around.

“Some of the stuff that fans had been asking for, we wanted the same stuff,” Matt said. Ross added, “But the point is not to give everyone what they think they want. Because I don’t think they really know what they want.”

And that’s a key lesson learned from season one as well as what is needed to play to the strengths of the cast.

“We don’t have the element of surprise on our side this time, but we execute it better,” says Ross. “But I think we screwed up less this year.”

Sadly, the pair refrained from dropping any juicy spoilers, but they did say that Millie Bobby Brown will (unsurprisingly) return, that season two follows Noah Schnapp’s Will and that new monsters will be coming to a streaming service near you.

“Hiding the monsters can be more effective than seeing it, so restraint can be a good thing,” admits Ross. Adds Matt, “I can’t talk too much about them, but they’re cool.”

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is introducing its first Muslim-American superhero and has cast Tala Ashe to play the role of Zari Adrianna Tomaz.

Here’s the character breakdown:

A Muslim-American woman from the year 2030. Zari lives in a world of contradictions. Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice, and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a “grey hat hacktivist.”

Tomaz is described as a computer whiz with a wry, non-compliant personality and a woman living a double life who is yet to realize she has secret powers derive from an ancient, magical source. In her comic book roots, Zari’s alter-ego was Isis, after the Egyptian goddess, though it’s doubtful that will remain on Legends.

Ashe enjoyed a recurring role in NBC’s American Odyssey and has appeared on Smash, 30 Rock and Covert Affairs. The 32-year-old Iranian American will be a series regular in season 3.

Ashe joins Legends stars Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Arthur Darvill, Dominic Purcell, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano, Amy Pemberton, Matt Letscher and Maisie Richardson-Sellers in the series from Berlanti TV and Warner Bros. TV.
