May 10 is National Shrimp Day, so help us celebrate the most popular all-you-can-eat buffet option and Bubba’s go-to topic of conversation in Forrest Gump.

Even though shrimp is the most commonly eaten seafood option, experts till argue that Americans don’t include enough seafood in their diets. For shame, citizens, for shame.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends two servings – eight ounces – of seafood per week. On top of that, the American Heart Association is a big proponent of the benefits that come with eating seafood, including decreasing the risk of heart disease.

“Stars of the sea, such as shrimp, are loaded with healthy nutrients like lean protein, B vitamins, iron and omega-3s, but not with calories and fat,” said Judy Dashiell of the National Fisheries Institute/The Shrimp Council. “Studies have shown that omega-3s, which your body can not make on its own, help keep brains and hearts healthy throughout a person’s life.”

The Harvard School of Public Health is also a big fan of shrimp, noting that the omega-3s found in seafood lower blood pressure and heart rate, improve blood vessel function and more. Unfortunately, Americans aren’t pulling their considerable weight in this department, as we eat just 15 pounds of fish annually, compared to around 70 pounds of red meat and 70 pounds of poultry.

Personally, here are three of my favorite shrimp dishes:

• Shrimp Cocktail:  The Golden Gate was the first to serve this .50 cent shrimp cocktail in 1959.  It is now a Las Vegas cliché.  Called the “Original Shrimp Cocktail” on the menu, it is a favorite among tourists as well as the locals.  The original Shrimp Cocktail consists of a regular-sized sundae glass filled with small salad shrimp and topped with a dollop of cocktail sauce.
• Shrimp DeJonghe:  A specialty of Chicago, it is a casserole of whole, peeled shrimp blanketed in soft, garlic, sherry-laced bread crumbs. It is served as an appetizer or a main course. It originated in the late 19th or early 20th century at the DeJonghe’s Hotel and Restaurant.
• Shrimp Scampi: This dish has its own day on April 29 and is cooked in butter, garlic, lemon juice and white wine.

The murders row trio of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Baldwin are away somewhere isolated and expensive, taking a vacation from being young, hot, rich, and famous. And they wanted to make sure we knew about it.

And since I, like most human beings on Instagram (considering they have over 100 million followers between them) follow them, here we are.

I don’t know, really. These articles are always kind of the hardest to write. They’re all younger than me, prettier than me, richer than me, so I can’t really relate or make any jokes. So do me a solid, give me a pass on this one, and just enjoy the pictures.

Texas authorities are searching for armed robbers who crashed a prom afterparty in Lancaster, Texas, shooting one teenager and assaulting another.

Police say that the two or three aggravated robbery suspects attended a party meant for Red Oak High School students after the party invitation went viral social media.

Around 3:15 A.M. on May 8 more than 500 people were at the event when Dallas County sheriff’s deputies responded to gunshots.

The teenager that was shot was released from the hospital.

Authorities believe two or three suspects showed up at the after-party uninvited and proceeded to rob some people. A teenager was then shot and another person was physically assaulted.

Investigators also believe the suspects blended into the crowd as people began to leave the party. Authorities continue to search for the possible suspects.

Although there were some adult chaperones according to authorities, one neighbor who didn’t want to be identified said there should have been more supervision at the party.

Earlier in the week, Draymond Green had the audacity to call another player dirty. That’s like Donald Trump telling another person their skin is too orange — it’s just laughable.

Anyway, since reporters probably got tired of asking Isaiah Thomas about his sister, his tooth, and John Wall’s dominance, they decided to ask him about Green calling his teammate Kelly Olynyk a “dirty player.”

Richard Henry Patterson, a Florida man charged with murder in the asphyxiation death of his 60-year-old girlfriend, is claiming that his girlfriend was choked by his “outsized male anatomy.” Patterson now wants to enter his genitals into evidence.

Patterson, 65, of Margate, Florida, was arrested in November 2015 on a charge of second-degree murder for allegedly choking 60-year-old Francisca Marquinez to death. Patterson never denied the accusation, however, he has maintained that his girlfriend accidentally choked on his large penis while she was performing oral sex.

Patterson’s lawyer, Ken Padowitz, claims that the jury must take into account his client’s penis as an accidental murder weapon.

while his request is unusual, Patterson’s attorney Ken Padowitz said it is key to his argument, which he called a variation on the “rough sex” defense that has been used in numerous trials across the country over the years. The heart of the argument, which is not often successful, is similar in each case: The victim died by accident while engaged in consensual sexual activity.

“Dr. [Ronald] Wright, an expert witness and former Broward County medical examiner, will testify that … her death is consistent with being accidentally sexually asphyxiated during oral sex,” Padowitz wrote in the motion. “It is material and relevant. The view by the jury is essential for them to fully understand Dr. Wright’s testimony and the defense in this case.”

Wright was Broward’s chief medical examiner from 1980 until 1994. Since then he has testified in hundreds of cases, usually for the defense in criminal cases. He declined to comment Friday.

Padowitz contacted police and told them to search the victim’s apartment. Once inside, police found the body. Marquinez had already been dead for between eight and 24 hours.

According to the autopsy, Marquinez showed no signs of trauma, as there were no bruises on her neck, however, the autopsy also notes that the body was in an early stage of decomposition, making bruising more difficult to detect with certainty.

The medical examiner was unable to reach a definitive conclusion about the cause and manner of death.

Delta Phi at Johns Hopkins University has been suspended after a drug overdose incident involving four undergraduate students.

According to university officials, the students attended a party Sunday, May 7, at the Delta Phi fraternity. Delta Phi, also known as the St. Elmo’s fraternity, is located on East University Parkway near Calvert Street.

All four students were successfully treated with Narcan. No details were given about what opioid specifically led to the overdoses.

“It is our understanding that all four students were treated by hospital emergency room personnel for apparent opioid overdoses,” the university’s Office of Campus Safety and Security said in the statement.

While the Delta Phi fraternity is not a Johns Hopkins-recognized organization, the fraternity was suspended by its national organization because of this incident. Delta Phi is not permitted to hold parties or any events until further notice.

The Baltimore Police Department and university officials are investigating the incident and asking anyone with information about it or any other drug-related incidents to call Campus Safety and Security at 410-516-4600.

Kathy Berman, the wife of popular ESPN broadcaster Chris Berman, was killed Tuesday in a car accident in rural Connecticut. She was 67.

Berman died following a two-car crash near Woodbury, Connecticut. She was a teacher and was married to Chris for more than 33 years. The couple had two children together, Meredith and Douglas.

“This is a devastating tragedy and difficult to comprehend,” John Skipper, president of ESPN, said in a statement. “Chris is beloved by all his ESPN colleagues and for good reason: he has a huge heart and has given so much to so many over the years. We know how much his family means to him and all we can do at a moment like this is give him the love and support he will surely need at this hour. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Meredith, Doug and the entire family.”

The two-car crash took place around 2:15 P.M. Edward Bertulis, 87, was also killed in the accident, police said Wednesday morning.

According to the state police, the 2003 Lexus SC 430 driven by Berman and Bertulis’ 2003 Ford Escape X were headed east on Sherman Hill Road at the time of the crash. The Lexus — owned by Chris Berman — rear ended Bertulis’ Ford and continued traveling east, veering off the road to the right.

The Lexus went down a small embankment and overturned in a small body of water, state police said. The Ford also went off the road, striking a utility pole and landing in the middle of the road on its roof.

Chris Berman first joined ESPN in 1979 at age 24, just one month after the network’s founding, and married Kathy four years later. A story in the Hartford Courant in 1993 told how Chris Berman faked car trouble so he could ask Kathy for help and a breakfast date.

Chris left his post as a host of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown after 31 seasons in January. He remains with the network after signing a new contract.

I’m not going to pretend to be a political expert.

And to be honest, I don’t want to. Politics are ugly, exhausting, confusing, and ultimately, pointless. I’m of the opinion that for every Trump, there will be a Regan. For every Hillary, there will be Bernie … and a Ted. And round and round we go. Water always finds it’s level type shit, you know?

But when it comes to Trump, our President, his actions are so outrageous, so embarrassing, so infuriating, so visceral, I just can’t help by express my opinion. I mean, how can I not? Our 70-year-old orange President tweets like a 17-year-old white girl (conveniently, they both go spray tanning). I truly wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t write about it.

Yesterday, Trump fired embattled FBI Director James Comey. Is Comey somewhat of a bumbling idiot? Based on what I’ve seen, heard, and read — yes. But at the same time, the dude is the DIRECTOR of the FBI, so he didn’t end up there by mistake. He also just so happens to be investigating Trump, his campaign, and Russia, so the optics of firing him now are certainly less than stellar.

Obviously, Trump took to Twitter to defend his actions. First, Donnie Freedom took specific aim at Chuck Schumer.

Then, he went on another classic Trump tirade:

Everytime me and my boys get in a discussion over the merits of voting for Trump, I always try to say that I like the idea of Trump, but not the man himself. And this is the perfect example of that — firing Comey was probably the right decision (maybe not at this moment, but nonetheless), but the fact that Trump feels like he needs to hop and Twitter to parade, gloat, defend, and rant, is just pathetic.

And in case you’re counting at home, we still have about three and a half years left to go.

In January 2017, Berman announced that he will step down as the host of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, NFL PrimeTime and Monday Night Countdown following the Super Bowl. He spent 31 years as the network’s primary NFL studio host. He will remain at ESPN in a reduced role going forward.

Before this announcement, it was believed that Berman earned an annual salary of $3 million. In his professional career, Berman was won the National Sportscaster of the Year Award from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association six times and the Sportscaster of the Year Award from the American Sportscasters Association three times, among other honors.

Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez, the fiancee of the late Aaron Hernandez, sat down with Dr. Phil for her first public comments since Hernandez committed suicide in late April. The interview will air in two parts next Monday and Tuesday, but here are a few comments from the conversation.

In the interview, Shayanna said that she had no idea her childhood sweetheart had plans to hang himself in his jail cell, despite his suicide letter which said that he told her “what was coming indirectly.”

“I felt like we were looking so bright. We were going up a ladder to a positive direction,” Shayanna said of their last conversation.

Shayanna also said she didn’t believe it at first when someone called to tell her Hernandez had committed suicide because he appeared so optimistic when they last spoke.

“I thought it was a hoax, that this was some cruel person playing a joke on me,” she said.

Hernandez took his own life on April 19, five days after he was acquitted in the double murder of Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Teixeira Furtado, 28, in 2012.

Hernandez was photographed blowing a kiss to Shayanna and their four-year-old daughter it what would be the last time he would ever see them in person again.

Dr. Phil also asked Shayanna about the theory that Hernandez killed himself so that she could collect the remainder of his contract with the New England Patriots. New England released Hernandez when he was arrested for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013 and it’s estimated that he had around $6 million in salary and signing bonus left to be paid. On Tuesday, a judge vacated Hernandez’s murder conviction as he died before exhausting all of his appeal opportunities, opening the door for a possible lawsuit against the Patriots to collect the remaining money.

The Dr. Phil interview will also reportedly explore the rumor that Hernandez had a “purported secret romantic life” in prison with inmate Kyle Kennedy.

See, this is why I think tipping is such a bullshit part of our society. For all the people who preach that people in the service industry ‘survive on their tips,’ I want you to get a load of this f*cking lady and tell me that all servers deserve 20%.

This is EXACTLY why the managers need to be paying waitresses regular minimum wage. I’m not the one who gets to hire these people, so why should I have to pay them? Whoever owns/runs/manages this IHOP or whatever, literally hired a person who was willing to hold a deadly weapon to not only a family but a family with two special needs children. And yet, I’m sure this very same woman has gotten 20-25% tips strictly because people ‘feel for her’ and her life as a waitress. Little do they know that very same waitress will be willing to cut you at a moment’s notice like you’re in the middle of the Marcy Houses.

The mother tells NBC 4 New York she, her husband and their two kids, who are both younger than 4 and have special medical and learning needs, had poor service at the pancake house on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Friday morning. They asked to speak to the manager and the manager asked them to leave. The mother says the family got up to leave, but heard another waitress comment about the kids’ disabilities and turned back around.

At that point, the mother alleges, “all the wait staff engulfed us,” an argument ensued and the waitress who had been serving the family, Rhonda Kelly, grabbed a steak knife and threatened the parents and kids. The mother said another IHOP employee snatched the knife from the server. The family left.

According to authorities, Kelly was arrested on a charge of menacing and released on an appearance ticket. She’s due in court later this month.

The owner of the Massapequa IHOP franchise, Camile Gnolfo, released a statement on the matter:

“This was a situation that would be difficult for anyone to imagine and we wish the outcome had been different. Multiple employees reacted to what they viewed as an immediate threat to their personal safety,” Gnolfo said in the statement.

Yesterday, it was reported that Matt Harvey was suspended by the New York Mets for boozing too hard on Cinco de Mayo and missing a game. Now, a new story is coming out that is equally as hilarious and embarrassing.

The Daily Mail and Page Six report that New York’s former ace failed to attend Saturday’s game because he was too distraught over photos of his supermodel girlfriend Adrianna Lima getting comfy with her ex, New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, at a recent gala. Harvey was reportedly upset on May 2 after seeing pictures of his rumored boo-thang attending Rihanna’s Met Gala after-party with Edelman.

In recent weeks, the 35-year-old Brazilian model has been spotted with Harvey in couple-y positions, though her and Edelman were said to be “flirty” at the popular event on May 2.

Lima and Edelman were spotted arriving together in a limousine. Shortly after the event, Lima unfollowed Harvey on Instagram. Scandalous, I know.

“Adriana’s relationship with Matt was never serious,” a source told Page Six. “They are no longer seeing each other.”

Sure, losing your girl is always going to be painful, especially when she looks like that (*furiously clears browser history*). But Harvey, buddy, you’re a star pitcher for the New York Mets making north of $5 million this year as a 28-year-old. Maybe, just maybe, things are going to turn out alright for you.

In other words, don’t be a f— boy and let this mess with your day job. You’ve already gotten yourself in enough trouble with the team in the past.

Harvey admitted to partying hard on Cinco de Mayo before apologizing to his teammates and the public.

“First off, as I just did with my teammates and all the coaches, I apologized for my actions and I do apologize for my actions,” he said.

“Obviously I’m extremely embarrassed by my actions. Yes, I was out on Friday night, past curfew. I did play golf Saturday morning and I put myself in a bad place to be ready to show up for a ballgame.

“It is my responsibility and I take full blame for that.”

Good, now wait for your next off day, hit the Manhattan bar scene, and take home another dime. Nothing gets you back on track like revenge sex.

If you’re a dude (or a chick, don’t worry, I’m woke on gender equality) between the ages of, I don’t know, maybe 18 and 30 years old, then at one point or another, Rob & Big, was your shit.

What made Rob & Big good was that it was just two buddies living the dream: having money, living with your best friend, goofing around for a living. But what made Rob & Big great was the contrast of Dyrdek and Boykin.

Boykin was about 200 pounds bigger and 50 Shades Darker, yet they were as close as fraternal twins who had grown up together their whole lives. And even through the television screen, you could tell how genuine their friendship was.

They weren’t pretending for a persona or a paycheck — they genuinely loved each other. They were best friends.

So you knew when Dyrdek heard the news of Boykin’s passing, he was going to take it as hard as anyone on earth. And he did.

African American students at Harvard University will hold their own graduation ceremony this year. Black Commencement 2017 will take place on May 23, according to The Boston Globe.

What’s Happening?

The African-American student body at Harvard University will be holding a separate graduation ceremony from the general commencement for the 2017 graduating class.

It will be the first university-wide ceremony for black students at Harvard, according to student organizers, and it is designed to celebrate the differing hurdles and achievements of the school’s black student body. Harvard, one of the most elite education institutions in the country, has long struggled with its historic connection to slavery.

Under University President and Lincoln Professor of History Drew Gilpin Faust, a handful of scholarly, research, and engagement efforts are underway in order to more fully explore and acknowledge the history and legacy of slavery at Harvard. In April 2016, President Faust and Congressman John Lewis unveiled a plaque on Wadsworth House honoring four women and men — Bilhah, Venus, Titus, and Juba — who lived and worked there as enslaved persons in the 18th century. In addition, President Faust has organized a faculty committee of historians from across Harvard to advise, research, and provide recommendations on University efforts and initiatives. Harvard also hosted a national academic conference on March 3, 2017 to explore the relationships between slavery and universities, across the country and around the world.

As of this writing, more than 170 students and 530 guests have signed up to attend the 2017 Black Commencement ceremony, which will be held May 23 at Holmes Field, near the Harvard Law School campus. The event will include speeches by black students, alumni, and administrators.

Usually, I don’t write about spur-of-the-moment internet trends, but like most things on the world wide web, they burn out as fast as they blow up.

But every once in a while, there’s one so legitimately hilarious that I sit at my computer belly laughing as I scroll through Twitter. When that happens, I bring it to the readers.

So, without further ado, I introduce you to the #BowWowChallenge.

Here’s the backstory: Shad Moss aka Lil Bow Wow aka Calvin Cambridge (that’s a quick Like Mike reference for your head top) posted an Instagram alluding to him taking a private jet to New York City, however, a picture surfaced of Bow Wow actually sitting on a commercial plane.

Yeah, so not the best look for Lil Bow Wow. If you’re going to pretend to be flying on a private jet, at least be IN the photo. The picture that Bow Wow threw up looks like it was ripped from one of those ‘RichManLifeStyle’ or ‘DoucheBagInc’ or whatever Instagram accounts. Try harder Bow Wow.

Anyway, Twitter responded with a home run, creating the #BowWowChallenge to hilarious effect:

We’ve got another airline incident on our hands, as the friendly skies have recently turned into the skies from Twister. On Sunday, Southwest’s Flight 2530 departed from Dallas, Texas and made a stop in Burbank, California. While people were exiting the plane before the flight would continue to Oakland, two men got into a violent fistfight.

It’s not clear what started this altercation, but it’s very evident that it’s now imperative to enroll in a martial arts class before booking a flight. You can watch the brawl in the video below.

Kudos to the other passengers for doing their best to break it up. I would’ve just sat back, enjoyed my complimentary peanuts, and took in the action.

Via ABC7, here’s the fallout from the fight.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery, while police said the victim suffered a contusion to his left eye, a laceration to his nose and a chipped tooth.

Burbank police identified the suspect as Chaze Mickalo Cable, 37, of Lancaster. He was arrested for assault and battery and held on $50,000 bail.

Honestly, I don’t know anyone who does it better than you, Mr. Diddy, and thanks to Forbes‘ recently released new report, now everyone else knows it as well. The reports estimates that Diddy a.k.a P. Diddy a.k.a Sean Combs has a net worth of $820 million, making him the wealthiest figure in hip-hop this year. Guess he wasn’t lying when he said it was all about the Benjamins (baby).

To date, Diddy has five albums under his belt, a staggering amount when you remember that he can barely rap. His most recent mixtape was 2015’s MMM, which serves as a lead-up to his sixth album No Way Out 2, scheduled to drop in July.

But we all know his income is made up of much more than just music. In addition to Diddy’s extensive rapping and record producing as the founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, he also has built up a solid filmography. Combs has appeared in a handful of movies, including 2014’s Muppets Most Wanted and 2010’s Get Him to the Greek. He also has a lucrative $100 million deal with the high-end vodka company Ciroc and a stake in the Revolt TV network.

Following Diddy on the list is Jay Z in the No. 2 spot with a net worth of “only” $810 million. Similar to Diddy, Jay Z has a number of different revenue streams outside of music including the streaming service Tidal, champagne brand Armand de Brignac and entertainment company Roc Nation.

The moral of the story, kids, is you should all start your own record labels and drink fancy alcohol.

Singer and actor Michael Parks has died at the age of 77. Writer/director/actor Kevin Smith broke the news on his social media accounts.

Parks, 77, has passed away. The cause of his death is not yet known.

Smith took to Twitter and Instagram to break the news.

Parks began his professional career back in 1963 and appeared in a staggering number of films and television series. However, he is perhaps best known for his work in recent years with filmmakers such as Smith, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez.

Parks starred in the TV series Then Came Bronson from 1969 to 1970, even singing the show’s theme song (“Long Lonesome Highway”) which became a No. 20 Billboard Hot 100 track. He recorded three albums under MGM Records: Closing The Gap (1969), Long Lonesome Highway (1970) and Blue. Parks attracted a new generation of fan with his turn as the French-Canadian drug runner Jean Renault in the cult classic ABC Tv series Twin Peaks.

In 1996, Parks played Texas Ranger Earl McGraw in Rodriguez’s From Dusk till Dawn, a role he’d reprise in Tarantino’s Kill Bill series. In recent years, Parks teamed with Smith for horror films Red State (2011) and Tusk (2014). He also appeared in Django Unchained (2012).

He is survived by his son James and his wife Oriana.
